WYLIE & HOLLAND RAT PACK RUN TO WESTERN  IRELAND - MAY 2004

Well another year and another trip as our RAT pack headed off again to the magical emerald isle. Once again we were blessed with a calm crossing and spirits were high as we unloaded from the boat. Unfortunately getting away from Dublin was a bit of a pain with the roads being very congested and not well signposted but we were soon clear and making our way to Lahinch. The accommodation was up to our expectations, even down to the fact that we managed to get Terry in a house around the corner with Dave, Michael and Jane. Within walking distance of the town centre there was only thing to do on the first night ( and every other night come to think of it) and that was to drink some Guinness. Lahinch had some very good eating houses and we sampled most of them and the pub night life focused around us of course! Cornerstones and Ma O'Briens were our favourite haunts but other drinking places were frequented.

Each day we had trips to different locations and people visited many of the beautiful places around. Richard tried almost every day to visit the Arran islands but was never allowed on the ferry and Graham and Hilary were banned from the Cliffs of Moher trip but apart from these slight hiccups the trips went very smoothly. Michael led us to some wonderful gardens including a magnificent Arboreti (yes singular of um!) and Terry gave his 3-wheeler a good test on the Irish run.

The weather was a bit mixed but with an endless local supply of Guinness who cares???????? Where to next year - only you can decide!
